Race of „Solidarity” and the Olympians – what is it?
The International Cycling Race of „Solidarity” and the Olympics, as the full name of the event is, is a Polish cycling stage race held since 1990 (since 2001 at the turn of the last decade of June and the first decade of July). The competition is a part of the Polish ProLoga racing cycle and of the continental UCI Europe Tour racing cycle. Since 2015 it has been classified as UCI 2.2. The race is attended by Polish and foreign cycling groups from the UCI Continental Teams division. The competition is organized by NSZZ „Solidarność” of the Lodz Region in cooperation with the Polish Olympic Society and the authorities of the cities through which the race passes. It is held under the auspices of the Polish Olympic Committee.
During the race different classifications of competitors are held. The best cyclist in a given category receives the leader’s jersey in which he continues that stage of the competition.
